Baby's Nursery

I think it's about time I post baby's nursery! He ended up coming 2 weeks early! It's been so fun and such madness too! :) We sure love him! We named him Crew. Not after my favorite store J.Crew. I know that's what you're all thinking. ha ha. It just added to the fondness of the name. :) Anyways, I am thrilled with the way the nursery turned out! It was exactly what I have envisioned. There are still some things I need to add though. I've been waiting to put up a collage of frames on the one wall, but need two certain ones from Ikea. They haven't restocked since May! So I'm still waiting on those, I'll have to post how that turns out later. I also need to find a great C and little things like that. Here it is. :)

I made the mobile! So simple! I found a cheap mobile that had a white base to it and took it all apart. I carefully cut the animals knowing I needed to save the string. Mom found these antenna balls and I added tattoos to the balls. I then glue gunned the strings into the balls and added the U from a craft store. Perfect! :)

Loving this idea from Oh Crafts! I know I have tons of paint swatches hanging out. Great way to recycle them! Cute embellishments for invites or cards also.

Remember those hanging vases I love so much? Look how cute this is! Fresh flowers on your wall. I bet it smells wonderful also. Not only am I loving the vases, I love the frame tutorial. I really love frames and have found it's so simple to paint them how you'd like. I think these turned out great. Now to the DI to find some frames! :) It's a nursery project I'm just beginning. I'll let you know! ;)

No-Sew Banner

I am contemplating putting one of these in baby's room. I feel these banners (while I do love them) are super trendy right now, and I want the nursery to have more of a classic/elegant feel, so the jury's still out. However, this is the most amazing way to make it happen. I would want it to be made from fabric, and I thought "Really, I'm going to sit and sew a triangle banner together?" Not that it would be hard, but maybe time consuming. I love this! Take square fabric, fold in half, tie together, hang. Perfect!! Love that she used handkerchiefs! The possibilities are endless with this!!

Threaded Balloons

These are pretty awesome! Why is it that the elementary school crafts can look so amazing? Remember making paper mache' easter eggs? I love these! It's all in a different language, so this is what I got from it.

  • Mix half water half glue.
  • Place the strings/yarn into the glue then onto the balloon.
  • Let dry hanging.
  • Pop the balloon and remove.
Sweet!

Here are some other amazing things you can do with this. Maybe a nursery addition?? COOL!!

Removable Wallpaper

I had no idea this stuff existed! I have really been loving wallpaper lately. However, I still have awful flashbacks of removing it from our entire condo when we were first married! I put some in a little toilet room we have in our master bath knowing- it is there for good! There is no way I'm talking that stuff down! :) Well- I saw this great removable stuff on Oh Happy Day (I love her)!  Here's her 411 on it all! I think it looks so pretty!

Wallpaper FAQ's

I actually get a lot of email about my wallpaper. Here are the answers to FAQ's about my wallpaper.

1. Where did you get your wallpaper?
I bought the wallpaper from Sherwin Williams. Their site is not user friendly but if you want to look it up the pattern number is #SW8EG5315.

2. Can you really remove it?
Yes, it is "Easy Change" wallpaper. (I call it renter's wallpaper.) When you move you pull it right off and you only need to go over the wall with a damp cloth, you don't even need to repaint. We tested a section of it and found this to be true. The bad part is they don't have a great pattern selection.

3. Was it difficult to put up?
YES! I always joke that Paul and I almost got divorced over it. :) It is definitely a two person job and it got really frustrating and took forever. My husband is a perfectionist and we had to get things lined up just right. If I was going to do it again I might look into having a professional do it. That said, if you like a project and have the time and patience, it is totally doable.

4. Was it expensive?
I can't remember the exact number of rolls we used but it turned out to be around $600 by the time we finished the entryway and hallway. That is a lot of money for something we are going to have to take down but we knew we would be in this apartment for a while so it was worth it to us.

Removable Wallpaper: The Final Report

A few years ago I put up "removable wallpaper" in my entry way and hallway. It's also known as "renter's wallpaper" or "temporary wallpaper." When I was researching it I was promised it would come right off and you just had to wipe the wall with a damp cloth and you wouldn't even have to repaint it. A lot of people were interested in this so I thought I would do a follow up post since we removed it before we moved. If you are looking for information about where to get removable wallpaper and where we got ours please refer to this post.

Taking it down was sad just because it was the end of an era. (Plus remembering all that work it was to put it up!) The wallpaper came right off. I pulled it all down in less than ten minutes (a friend called dibs on the used stuff) There were light marks left on the walls from the glue (you can see them in the fourth picture.) so I took a damp sponge to the wall. It did make a slight difference but there were still very clear glue marks left. And the walls definitely needed a new coat of paint to get it back to normal. (Though not as much coverage as if you were covering up a solid color.)

Rainbow Party

I love this decor for any party. What a great way to kick off  spring/summer. It would also be so pretty with a monochromatic color scheme. I love that the streamers are high and the flowers are low, so you can still chat and have pretty decor at the same time.

Baby Amore

I think it's past time to let my B lovely-ers out there know that I'm prego! Yay! It's our first baby and we're super excited! I'm 13 weeks and due in August. I'm going to try and not be baby post crazy on here, but I apologize in advance if it gets that way. So, I thought I had my nursery figured out for sure. For either a boy or girl I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Well, then I see something like this and I think, well maybe I don't know... LOVING these so much. I love how different is all is. I found them here on urban grace interiors. There is also an etsy shop.

This is inspiring on so many levels- it could be turned into decor, or inspiration for an invite. Beautiful

Killer Color Combos

I love the combination of colors. Obviously, with everything you do, if the colors don't work together it's not going to look very good. I use fashion as inspiration for A LOT of things. I am loving these combos right now!
Cloud paisley perfect shirt
grey, olive green, and a hint of black or brown.
- Can we also talk about how awesome her hair is? LOVE IT!

Super 120s tulip mini
Yellow and grey are a classic fav. of mine. However, I love these tones of it! Very steel like.
I will say this time and time again.... I WANT ADULT SIZES.... There are so many cute little kids clothes that I wish fit me! This outfit is making me drool right now. Sequin vest?! C'mon. Alright- loving the colors. The skirt color is super unique paired with a light blue and white. I will not doubt you will see me use this in the near future.

Sorry this is upside down. Again the amazing skirt with peach/pink and purple? Throw is some grey for a neutral.

I love this blue and brown combo. I never would have thought to add the rose or the pop of yellow (my first preference!)

Sorry JCrew overload, but I find them to have the most inspiring color combos. Plus they have fully put together models!
